1852 11th January at St Marie'S Church Catholic,Sheffield,
Mary Mallinder was the daughter of Martin Mallinder 1803-1847. Mary married at 20 years old in January 1852 and 8 months later her elder brother Thomas (paternal line) married in the September 1852. It is interesting to note that the witness' to Mary's marriage are her elder brother Thomas and Elizabeth Crossland who was to become Thomas Mallinder's wife. Perhaps Elizabeth Crossland was a friend of Mary Mallinder who met Thomas Mallinder (paternal line) through Mary.
Mary's husband, Henry Valantine (sometimes spelt Valentine), appears as a witness at the wedding of Thomas Mallinder 1827-1878 (Mary's brother and my paternal line) in 1852.
I was at school with a Valantine, around the year 1971-1974, who told me he was related to me! Mary and Henry were married at St. Maries Catholic Church, this is an image dating to 1860 of the church that Mary and Henry got married in. They moved from Sheffield to Whitechapel in London some time after 1862. See IGI Family Group Record which shows their youngest child being born in Whitechapel. Henry Valantine was a cork cutter at the time of his marriage to Mary and ended up as a cork merchant.
In July 2015, I got this piece of information from Susie Shaw : Their daughter Mary married Henry Valentine; they had (amongst others) John Henry Valentine who married Susannah Elizabeth Bull, and their children included Ellen Charlotte Valentine. Ellen married Alec Abrahams in 1901, and my grandmother was their daughter.
In August 2015, I got this piece of information from Julie Dobson : I have discovered that I descend from Mary Mallinder 1833 - daughter of Martin and Ann so I was pleased to see the update for her. She married Henry Valentine (1831-1893) and my line is their eldest son Thomas (1853=1902) and Mary/Maria Lee. They had three daughters - Catherine Valentine, (1874-1940) married Michael Brett, Mary Mallinder Valentine (1886-1968) married Henry Longhorn and Theresa Rose Valentine (1890-1965) married James Edward Pease. At some time their father Thomas changed his name from Valenitine to Mallinder (his mother's maiden name). All three daughters were married under the name Mallinder and their children's birth records give their mother's names as Mallinder. This took a lot or working out. I have my great grandparent's marriage certificate (attached) it gives her father's name as Thomas Mallinder - Ironfounder.
