Louis Mallinder 1899-1970

Louis was the youngest child of Joseph Mallinder 1853 - 1925 (great grandfather). He was an uncle to my father Bernard Mallinder 1921 - 1995 and a younger brother to my grandfather Thomas Mallinder 1886 - 1943. I recall my father talking fondly about his Uncle Louis.


Birth

Louis was born 1st August 1899 at Sheffield, the district of Ecclesall Bierlow, Yorkshire (Register Volume 9c Page 464).


Census 1901

The 1901 census records Louis as one year old living at 12 Club Gardens. This is a photo taken in 1910 of Club Gardens. This is Sheffield in 1890. And Club Gardens today is here.


Census 1911

The 1911 census records Louis as 11 years old living at 17 Franklin Street , Sheffield, and attending school; this is a picture of Franklin Street 1960).


Census 1921

The 1921 census records Louis as born in 1899 and aged 21. Recorded as a Boot & Shoe Dealer's Asst at Jackson Bros Norfolk Mkt Hall Sheff.


Marriage

Louis married Annie Stockdale 12th August 1922 at Sheffield, see register volume 9c page 1225.

The 1939 Register records Louis living at 88 Josiah Road, Birmingham. His occupation is recorded as a Manager of Boots and Shoes.
