St Michael’s Cemetery is a Catholic burial ground in the Rivelin Valley area of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The cemetery stands on a steep hillside on the south side of Rivelin Valley Road at its junction with Rivelin Road and Hollins Lane. In the early 1860s there was no consecrated ground for the burial of Catholic people within the boundaries of Sheffield. This came about largely because of past persecution resulting from the English Reformation of the 16th century. Father Burke of St Vincent‘s Church on Solly Street in the city, being quite concerned about this began a search for a suitable burial ground and finally purchased an eight acre site on a sloping hillside in Rivelin Glen.

4. Grave 104, Section X, located at JOS. Thomas Mallinder 1827-1878 Paternal Line burried 21st February 1878 with his children:

   2. Eliza M burried 7th June 1870 aged 5, died at 5 Talbot Street, Sheffield.
   3. John burried 25th April 1877 aged 14, died at 5 Randall Street, Sheffield.
   4. Elizabeth burried 20th July 1917 aged 59, died at 20 Woodstock Road, Sheffield.
   5. Ann burried 21st June 1918 aged 63, died at 63 Southgrave Road, Sheffield.

His wife Elizabeth (nee Crossland) is not recorded as being burried in this grave. She died in 1899 aged 71 years. She is not recorded as being burried at St Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
5. Grave 100, Section W, located at JOS. Anne (nee Ellis) wife to Martin Mallinder 1803-1847, her son John and his wife Rosa.

1. Anne burried 10th June 1880 aged 73, died at Randall Street, Sheffield.
2. John burried 8th April 1899 aged 61, died at record shows Letwell Road should read Sitwell Road, Sheffield.
3. Rosa burried 8th September 1903 aged 64, died at 13 Sitwell Road, Sheffield.
